Honolulu, HI – ‘Ekahi Health is proud to congratulate Dr. Myron Shirasu, internist at Central Medical Clinic, on receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Ola Pono Ike Medical Gala on Oct. 7, 2017

“Dr. Shirasu is a true local treasure in the medical community here in Hawaii,” said Dean Hirata, chief executive officer of ‘Ekahi Health, the parent company of Central Medical Clinic. “His passion for putting his patients first in everything he does is just as prevalent and infectious today as it was 50 years ago when he first joined Central Medical Clinic.”

Dr. Shirasu grew up in Ola`a on Hawaii Island. He graduated from the University of Oregon medical school in 1963 and completed his medical residency at The Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu. Dr. Shirasu was recruited in 1967 by Dr. Isami Umaki, one of the founders of Central Medical Clinic. This year marks Dr. Shirasu’s 50 year anniversary with the clinic.

“I would like to thank the Hawaii Medical Association for this award, as well as my faithful colleagues at Central Medical Clinic and ‘Ekahi Health,” said Dr. Shirasu. “I am also grateful for the pharmaceutical representatives for their support throughout the years, but most of all, I would like to thank my family and friends, especially Karen, my wife of 47 years, and our three amazing kids.”

Dr. Shirasu has served, or is currently serving, on the boards or on committees at Aloha United Way, Hawaii Associations of Physicians for Indemnification, Hawaii Medical Association, Hawaii Medical Journal, Kuakini Medical Center, Mountain Pacific Quality Health, Pacific Medical Administrative Group, Physician Exchange of Honolulu, Queen’s Medical Center, and the Rehab Hospital of the Pacific. He is also currently the president of the Hawaii Medical Foundation.

The annual Ola Pono Ike Medical Gala, presented by the Hawaii Medical Association and the Honolulu County Medical Society, is held to support efforts toward quality health care in Hawaii, recognize exemplary physicians and community leaders, and help raise money for charitable contributions.
